Uber India launches Group Rides feature: What is it and how to use it

Uber India has launched a new feature called Group Rides, aimed at making travel more cost-effective for users. With this feature, riders can share their Uber rides with up to three friends who are traveling to the same destination.

The Group Rides feature offers a convenient way for friends to travel together and save money. By splitting the total cost between the riders, users can save up to 30% on their fares. Uber has made it a simple process to book a Group Ride. Users just need to open the updated Uber app, select the ‘Services’ tab, and tap on Group Rides. The app will then ask for the destination and prompt users to invite their friends for the ride. A link with the group ride details will be sent to the selected contacts, who can add their stops in the app. Once ready, a driver will be assigned, and the trip will commence.

Nitish Bhushan, Director of Central Operations at Uber India, stated that Group Rides offer customers the opportunity to save money while traveling with people they know. In addition to the cost savings, this feature also contributes to reducing the number of vehicles on the road, as more people are accommodated in fewer cars.
